Selected study unit - American Society of Polar Philatelists

Even with our modern ability to see Antarctica by satellite and even zoom in to panoramas that have been made there,(link) the north and south poles still hold an aura of mystery. These two remote areas of the Earth are at the center of the American Society of Polar Philatelists topical collections. The study unit was founded in 1956 and now boasts about 300 members worldwide. New issue news along with articles about the polar regions and their exploration is covered in the study unit's quarterly Ice Cap News, and a complete archive of the first 54 volumes of the journal is available for purchase on CD. More information can be found at the study unit's Vermeil award winning website in the 2012 APS Web Competition,
