PRESS RELEASE

May 12, 2006

NATIONAL TOPICAL STAMP SHOW – JUNE 15-17, 2007
Not just a stamp show – a Western Vacation Destination!

TOPICAL, US AND CLASSIC DEALERS - FREE ADMISSION --- FREE PARKING
SHERATON GRAND HOTEL – HWY. 114 AT ESTERS RD. – IRVING, TEXAS

Not only will NTSS ’07 have a Western Theme based on the Ft. Worth “Cowtown” atmosphere, but there is plenty to do in the area and the ATA can help you plan a memorable vacation. Here are listed many NTSS activities, several of which are still in the planning stages as of this date.

Transportation: NTSS ‘07 will be held adjacent to the DFW airport with free transportation from and to the airport. The Sheraton Grand has not only reduced the price of their newly refurbished rooms from $159 to $89 a night for us, but will provide free transportation to the huge Grapevine Mills Mall for those who want to some spend time away from the hotel. They will also set up transportation to a local Protestant or Catholic Church on Sunday morning. The nearest synagogue is too far away for them to make the drive.

Two tours have been set up for Thursday and Monday. The venues are available on the ATA Website, www.americantopicalassn.org, or for an SASE to the ATA Central Office, PO Box 57, Arlington, TX 76004-0057. Along with this, interested parties will also receive an advance sign up sheets for all events. Those wanting to go on either tour can get a free Stockyards Sheriff Badge souvenir by registering and pre-paying for a tour before April 15th, 2007. For those who want to visit some of the sites in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex, several brochures are listed on the ATA Website with information on how to obtain them. A third tour will be held on Saturday to visit the Boy Scout National Headquarters and Museum, which also has a Norman Rockwell room.

The ATA has a Video and a DVD to loan to those interested upon request. The video covers the background of the Historic Ft. Worth Stock Yard area, which is the highlight of one of our tours. It is titled, Wall Street of the West and is available for a four-day loan. The DVD is a mix of leisure activities in North Texas, and the ATA Central Office is still gathering these to put together as a single DVD, merging several local convention and visitor’s bureau’s DVDs. Golf, shopping, touring, sporting events, first class art and other museums are available in the Ft. Worth / Dallas area in abundance.

Three days of activities have been planned, kicking off with a First Day of Issue for a stamp honoring the TEXAS RANGERS, courtesy of the Inter-Governmental Philatelic Corporation, with a special guest Texas Ranger unveiling the stamp and telling all a little about the famous organization. Members of NOLA, the National Outlaw and Lawmen Association, who have written widely on Texas heroes and villains, will have a book-signing on Saturday. A special guest star has been invited to participate but has not yet been locked in. Live Texas “critters” will be on display on Saturday as well. A NASA display, which will be accompanied by related autographed space covers, has been approved for us and an astronaut has given his tentative agreement to attend and meet, greet and speak. Other static displays have been requested from two prominent Texas companies, each of which, if furnished, will be accompanied by related stamps and/or covers depicting their products. An “ALAMO ON STAMPS” exhibit has been promised to us as well.

Professional sports cheerleaders have tentatively agreed to meet guests Saturday morning with a smile and autographed posters. We have also been promised a saddled Texas Longhorn Steer to appear in the parking lot on Saturday. Photos on, or alongside, the docile animal will be available for a fee.

Live Entertainment is being planned preceding the President’s Reception on Friday. Dealers and registered volunteers will get free tickets to the entertainment. Others who may be interested can buy an inexpensive ticket, or can sign up for the Reception for which the entertainment is included. Entertainment is also being planned for the Awards Banquet on Saturday. You can also meet an Indian Chief who will demonstrate American Indian dances for us daily. Storytelling hour and chaperoned cartoons are also on the agenda. All of the listed activities and events have had letters of inquiry sent and several are already locked in place. Details on all of the activities will appear in the philatelic press as each is confirmed.

Youth activities will be plentiful. The ATA and APS have joined together to bring STAMP CAMP USA to NTSS ‘07 from its home in Pennsylvania. Also, the Youth Champion of Champions Competitive Philatelic Exhibits will be on display. This will be the best of the best youth exhibits in the country. Also, still in the planning stages, we expect a large number of scouts to come to the event to earn their Collecting badges and /or their Air and Space badges.

Several seminars and meetings, all free and open to the public, will be available. Several special Study Units of the ATA will hold their annual gatherings, again free to the public. Currently, the Space Unit has already stated that they will participate.

Free door prizes will include Western Movie DVDs and ATA BOY BUCKS (Bucks that can be spent on any ATA Product or membership fees, or at any participating dealer at the show). Also to be given away will be six, 6- month ATA Memberships or extensions to existing memberships. There will also be free packets of stamps for the youth. Dollar covers and 10c stamp tables are also in the planning stages.

Postcard dealers and cachet makers are being invited to participate. Several clubs and societies will also have tables at this event.

See a Korean War mail delivery system in the form of an altitude released mortar shell that showered propaganda leaflets on North Korean soldiers. This will be shown along with one such leaflet.

Other activities are also being investigated to make this a memorable show in addition to a wide contingent of dealers (up to 30), and up to 200 competitive exhibit frames on floor exhibits.

WATCH YOUR PHILTATELIC PAPERS, MAGAZINES AND JOURNALS FOR MORE INFORMATION AS PLANS FOR THIS SHOW PROGRESS AND ARE VERIFIED BY INVITED INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS. Y’ALL COME NOW! (Don’t forget to dress up in your western duds.)
