What to Do with the Material

The Write-Up

Overall consideration: a topical collection reveals the results of the study that has gone into the preparation of the story line. Write-ups (text accompanying the philatelic material) are the major element that makes your collection different from any other.

Overcome the temptation … and it will be a strong one … to over-elaborate in the write-up. You are producing, in effect, the equivalent of photo captions rather than high-school term papers. Others will not read lengthy write-ups, just as you will not read those in another’s collection.
